Cat's Blues
A warm, grateful welcome to new subscribers!
This past week, upon learning that The New York Times Tech Guild workers are on strike and have asked people to not play the games until they have achieved a fair contract, I posted about this newsletter on Reddit. More of you subscribed than I could have ever dreamed of, so I want to say a massive thank you to anyone who’s here because of that comment. For subscribers new and old, I direct you to the archive that lists every puzzle in difficulty order so that you can make your way through the backlog in whatever way seems most fun to you. Also, upon reflection, I will now be releasing each puzzle’s answers in the newsletter it is published, rather than waiting a week. This change is going into effect today, and I will be editing all of my previous posts to reflect that in the upcoming weeks.
Today’s puzzle features five women (all she/her) who have adopted cats this year! To solve, either print out this PDF or use this online solving service. If you encounter any issues or have any feedback, please leave that here. Please find the answers (and last week’s puzzle’s answers) and some art I’ve been loving at the bottom of this newsletter.
Have fun, and have a wonderful Sunday!
Art I’ve Loved Lately:
“The End of Poetry” by Ada Limón. Enough of osseous and chickadee and sunflower / and snowshoes…
Possession (1981). A visually disgusting yet heart-wrenching depiction of spoiled love, a marriage gone sour, with the most bonkers tone I’ve ever seen in a horror film—absurd and almost comedic in its violence, casual in its sensuality, disregarding nearly any sense of the traditional need to explain itself. I can’t believe how quickly this snuck up on me until suddenly I was sitting up and crying at a woman screaming in an empty subway tunnel.
“The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” by Gil Scott-Heron. The revolution will be no re-run, brothers / The revolution will be live
Answers to Cat’s Blues (Edit: these are the correct answers—thank you to MJ and Jacky for pointing out the typo!)

just heads up, Tortie twice in the Cat's answers. Rude to make me yearn for adopting another cat!
